There has long been a recognized need for technology to reliably detect Category 7 Explosives. CAT-7 encompasses two types of explosives, perchlorates and TATP (Triacetonetriperosixde) that are home-made, rather than, manufactured for commercial or military use type of explosives. Mistral Security Inc.'s new Peroxide Detection Kit is able to detect improvised chlorate-based and peroxidebased explosive compounds reliably and safely. PDK contains two bottles: bottle A to identify/detect chlorate-based residues; and bottle B to detect peroxide-based residues. A positive reaction is a dark blue color reaction. The testing procedure uses collection papers to swipe a surface or substance. Drops from bottle A and B are placed on the paper to see if there is an immediate color reaction.
